Blow for Totnes and Environs Community Group and Infinergy as Council refuses Totnes Community Wind Farm
Infinergy and the Totnes Renewable Energy Society (TRESOC) are disappointed with yesterday's refusal of the Totnes Community Wind Farm proposal by South Hams District Council.
Totnes Community Wind Farm would consist of 2 wind turbines with a combined capacity of up to 4.6MW, to be owned by TRESOC (all 500+ members are resident in Totnes or one of 15 surrounding parishes) by up to 49%. TCWF is a unique community and industry partnership.
TRESOC's Managing Director Ian Bright said: "We are naturally disappointed by the SHDC decision. It shows clearly that local planning authorities do not yet have the insight and tools to balance parochial concerns against national strategic objectives for deployment of renewable energy. The TCWF partnership will be exploring all of our options for the next steps over the next few weeks."
